A very large Florida Gopher Tortoise just Creeping Along. These turtles are protected in the state of Florida and are considered Florida's State tortoise, and Georgia's State reptile.

In FLORIDA - It is against the law to kill, harass or destroy gopher tortoises, their eggs or burrows since they are considered a threatened species. Florida also has a hefty fine for running one over with a vehicle! Proper protocol is to get out of the vehicle, pick up the tortoise and place it on the side of the road...
