Description
Fruit of The Queen Palm is a tall palm tree on property next to my family's home in Englewood, Florida.
The following is great information from native Floridian, Roy Erickson who is a photographer/artist on FAA:
The fruit are 'edible', stringy, and have a hard 'nut' in the middle. They can be gathered up and fed to the hogs - what you didn't gnaw on for the taste. The 'nuts', after the fruit was gone were used to 'pave' the sandy drive. They also use the fruit when ripe to make jelly - or they used to; much like the 'jelly palm' which is really the "pindo palm."
