Lovely Vinca Periwinkle in the garden. Notice how the new vinca bud is peeking through?

Vinca and Periwinkle are annual flowers; hardy and tough plants for sunny areas such as Florida. Vinca is a genus of six species in the family Apocynaceae, native to Europe, northwest Africa and southwest Asia.

The English name "Periwinkle" is shared with the related genus Catharanthus.
