Description
Purple swamphens are often recognized by their purple or indigo chest. The Purple swamphens are bulky birds and prefer to swim or rest on the edge of water. Despite their size, the birds are very capable fliers. When the birds fly they drag their long legs behind them. Their long legs make their take offs and landings difficult.
